Oghenemaro Miles “Maro” Itoje is an English professional rugby union player who plays as a lock or blindside flanker for Saracens and the England national team. In 2012, Itoje signed his first professional contract with Saracens and made his debut the following year. Itoje received his first England call-up in 2016, ahead of the annual Six Nations Championship, and quickly became a fan favorite among Saracens and England fans alike.

Itoje participated in a variety of sports as a child, including basketball, football, rugby, and athletics, and he represented England at the U17 level in the shot put. Itoje began his rugby career while studying politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies in Bloomsbury, London.

Itoje’s Saracens senior debut came in the 2013-14 season, when he was 19, against Cardiff Blues in the Anglo-Welsh Cup. Later that season, Itoje made his Aviva Premiership debut against Leicester Tigers. Before this, he had played junior rugby for Harpenden RFC (2005-11), then first-team rugby for Old Albanian RFC, usually as a lock (second-row forward).
