Martin Short has established himself as an energetic comedic player in film and television over the last several decades.

Martin was a writer and performer on the sketch comedy show “SCTV” (1981-1984) and a member of Toronto’s Second City comedy troupe before moving to New York.

He was cast on “Saturday Night Live” in 1984, catapulting him to international stardom, starring in films such as “Three Amigos” (1986), “Father of the Bride” (1991), “Mars Attacks!” (1996), and “Jungle 2 Jungle” (2000).

Martin Short is best known for creating memorable characters such as Ed Grimley and Jiminy Glick, as well as creating several TV shows, including two separate series titled “The Martin Short Show.”

He is deeply committed to charity. Martin is a member of Artists Against Racism, and in 2001, he won $32,000 on “Celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” for Loyola High School.

Martin Short paid $1.1 million for a 1,836-square-foot home in Los Angeles’ Beachwood Canyon neighborhood in 2014.

He reportedly bought the three-bedroom home for his daughter, which is close to Short’s home in Pacific Palisades. Martin also owns a cottage on Ontario’s Lake Rosseau.
