Stuart Hogg was born on 24 June 1992, in Melrose. He is Scottish and a professional rugby player who participates in the English Premiership by playing for Exeter Chiefs. He is also the captain of the Scottish national team.

Hogg was born in a talented rugby family. Prior to becoming a rugby referee, his father, John was a championship-winning full-back for Hawick.

His brother, Graham Hogg used to play for Scotland in the IRB Seven World Series and also represented Scotland under under-18, under-19 and under-20. In 2012, Hogg discovered that he was a distant relative of George Best, an Irish footballer.
Hogg plays fullback, but he can also play fly-half. In 2016 and 2017, Hogg was named player of the tournament two times. Hogg was on a tour with the British & Irish Lions in 2013 and 2017, but his tour in 2017 was cut short because he got injured.
Hogg is married to Gillian Smith. The pair got married in August 2016, and they have three children; Olivia May Hogg, Archie William Hogg and George Hoggs.
Archie was born in 2016, followed by his sister, Olivia May, who was born a year after he was born. Then George joined the family in 2019.
