Merri Dee was an American philanthropist and television journalist.

She was best known for her work at Chicago, Illinois television station and national cable superstation WGN-TV as an anchor and reporter from 1972 to 1983.

Dee was also the director of community relations from 1983 to 2008.

She was born Mary Francine Dorham on October 30, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, United States to John Blouin, a postal worker, and Ethel Dorham.

Merri Dee graduated from Englewood Technical Prep Academy in 1955. She proceeded to Xavier University, where she was a business administration major but dropped out to take a job to support her siblings due to hardships.

She founded the Chicago-based program Athletes for a Better Education.

On July 17, 1971, Dee and a guest on her show, amateur psychic Alan Sandler was kidnapped and shot which resulted in Sandler’s death but she survived.

Merri Dee Cause Of Death: What Happened To Merri Dee?

According to reports, Legendary Chicago broadcaster Merri Dee passed away peacefully in her sleep overnight on March 16, 2022.

She was 85 years old at the time of her demise.

Merri Dee is survived by her husband Nicolas Fulop and children, Toya Monet and Attorney Richard H. Wright.

Dee served as president and member of the leadership council of the Illinois chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) from 2009 until she died in 2022.
