Marcello Lo Cicero

Marcello was Michael Nyqvist’s biological father, who worked as a pharmacist.

Michael Nyqvist later found him in Italy, with his two half sisters.

Gerd Nyqvist

Gerd was born in August 2, 1924. She was the biological mother of Michael Nyqvist.

She was born to comrades Torsten Nordborg and Ellen Grönlund.

Gerd worked as an insurance official and secretary, and was later married to Ake Nyqvist from 1953 to 1970.

Gerd died on January 19, 2014.

Ake Nyqvist

Ake was a Swedish lawyer, born on January 28, 1924, in Grödinge parish.

He was the adoptive father of Michael Nyqvist, following his marriage to Nyqvist’s mother, Gerd Nordborg in 1953.

In the early 50s, Ake “worked as a secretary at the Swedish consulate in Brussels and as a representative of the STF in Belgium and Luxembourg.”

He also owned his own law firm and belonged to the Ordo Sancti Michaelis Equest-rorum Sueciae.

Ake died on December 13, 2001.

Who Was Michael Nyqvist?

Michael Nyqvist, whose real name was Rolf Åke Mikael Nyqvist, was an actor famous for playing Mikael Blomkvist in the Swedish film adaptations of the Millennium Series “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” (2009), “The Girl Who Played with Fire” (2009), and “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest” (2009).

Born on November 8, 1960, in Stockholm, Nyqvist began acting in the early 1980s, in Swedish theater and TV productions.

His portrayal of Blomkvist received critical acclaim and brought him worldwide attention.

Nyqvist appeared in many Swedish films and TV series including “Together” (2000), “As It Is in Heaven” (2004), “The Black Pimpernel” (2007), “My Life as a Dog” (1985), “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” (1988), “The Guy in the Grave Next Door” (2002), and “Bang Bang Orangutang” (2005).

Other non-Swedish films he starred include “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” (2011), “John Wick” (2014), “Abduction” (2011), “Disconnect” (2012), and Frank & Lola (2015).

Michael Nyqvist passed away on June 27, 2017, after a long battle with lung cancer. He was aged 56.
