Miguel Vargas began playing for the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers in 2022 and was selected to represent the Dodgers in the 2022 All-Star Futures Game. Vargas appeared in 113 games for Oklahoma City, batting.304 with 17 home runs and 72 RBIs.

The Dodgers promoted Vargas to the major leagues for the first time on August 2, 2022. The following day, he made his debut as the starting designated hitter against the San Francisco Giants. He smacked a ground-rule double off Giants starter Alex Cobb in his first at-bat.
Vargas hit his first MLB home run against Jordan Montgomery of the St. Louis Cardinals on September 24, 2022. In 18 games with the Dodgers, he batted.170 and drove in eight runs. He also batted first, played left field, and was a designated hitter.
