Who Is Mima Ito?

Mima Ito is a professional table tennis player who currently ranks number 6 on the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) ranking.

Born on October 21, 2000, in Iwata, Shizuoka, in Japan, Ito began playing table tennis at a young age, and gained international attention in 2015, after winning gold medals in the women’s singles event at the Asian Junior and Cadet Championships.

In 2013, at the age of 12, Mima Ito became the youngest player ever to win the Japan National Championships.

At the age of 14, Ito became the youngest player to win a World Tour title.

Ito made her Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, and made it to the fourth round in the women’s singles event.

She went on to win the bronze medal in the women’s singles event at the World Table Tennis Championships in 2017.

The following year, Ito won the gold medal in the women’s team event at the World Team Table Tennis Championships, which was Japan’s first-ever victory in that category.

On the international front, Ito has represented Japan in several international competitions, including the Olympic Games.

At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Ito won the bronze medal in the women’s team event, contributing to Japan’s success in securing the gold medal in that category.

Ito has achieved a career high of world number 2, and is regarded as one of the top-ranked female table tennis players in the world.
