Félix Araujo was a talented footballer in his own right, but he had to give up his dream of playing professionally due to financial constraints. However, he passed on his love of football to his son, Néstor, and was a constant source of support for him throughout his career.

Néstor Araujo has spoken about the importance of his parents in his success, saying that they “taught me the values of hard work, discipline, and respect.” He has also said that they “were always there for me, no matter what.”

Their son, Néstor Araujo is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Club América and the Mexico national team.

Araujo began his career with Cruz Azul, making his professional debut in 2010. He spent three seasons with the club, winning the 2013 Clausura. In 2013, he joined Santos Laguna, where he has since established himself as a key player. He has won the 2015 Clausura, 2015 Apertura, and 2018 Clausura with the club.

On 14 June 2018, Araujo joined Spanish club Celta de Vigo on a five-year contract. On 21 July, he made his debut in a friendly match against Espanyol. On 24 June 2022, Araujo returned to Mexico and joined Club América on permanent basis.

Araujo has also been capped by the Mexico national team. He made his debut in 2013 and has since won over 30 caps. He was part of the Mexico squad that won the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Araujo is a strong and physical defender who is good in the air. He is also a good passer and has a good reading of the game. He is considered to be one of the best defenders in Mexico.
