Schlotterbeck is the nephew of former Freiburg player and active football player Niels Schlotterbeck.

His older brother, Keven, plays professional football and spent the 2019–20 season on loan with Union Berlin from SC Freiburg before going back for the 2020–21 season.

Schlotterbeck made his SC Freiburg debut on March 9, 2019, taking Philipp Lienhart’s place in the second half of the team’s 2-1 home victory over Hertha BSC.

In Schlotterbeck’s final match for the team, Freiburg lost the DFB-Pokal Final on penalties, but he was still named the game’s MVP.
