Niels Patrick Nkounkou is a French professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Ligue 2 club Saint-Étienne. He made his international debut for the France Olympic team at Tokyo 2020.

Nkounkou was born in Pontoise, France, to a Congolese father and a French mother. He began his football career at the age of six with local club FC Mantois 78. In 2015, he joined the youth academy of Olympique de Marseille.
Nkounkou made his professional debut for Marseille on 25 September 2019, in a 1–0 Ligue 1 defeat to Dijon FCO. He made 10 appearances for the club during the 2019–20 season.
In July 2020, Nkounkou was signed by English club Everton for an undisclosed fee. However, he struggled to break into the first team at Everton and was loaned to Saint-Étienne in January 2021.
