Cruz said he had ended the shooting when he did because he found no one else to kill.

Cruz had faked a mental illness even though he had signs of troubling behaviour. He reportedly brought guns and even dead animals to school.

Cruz faces 17 first degree murder charges and has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Nikolas Cruz Judgement

The judge, Elizabeth Scherer, had granted Cruz a life imprisonment, rather than a death sentence. This has led to public anger and outrage.

What Did Nikolas Cruz Do?

On February 14, 2018, Nikolas Cruz a former student of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, had opened fire on students at the school, killing 17 and leaving 17 injured.

Cruz who was 19 at the time, took to his heels, leaving his weapon, AR-15-style semi-automatic behind.

Cruz had been arrested within the hour, and was found to have been exhibiting behavioural issues.

Footage from a surveillance camera was enough conviction that he had committed the crime.
