The strike, which started this week, has caused major disruptions in hospitals and clinics nationwide, leaving many patients without crucial diagnostic services.

However, at the Nima Polyclinic, lab professionals have decided to continue working.

Their dedication has ensured that the clinic remains a crucial resource for the community during this uncertain time. As a result, the facility has seen a significant rise in lab requests, as patients from other areas come to Nima for their medical needs.

The Medical Director of the Polyclinic elucidated that although the increased workload has added extra pressure on the staff, they are managing to meet the demand.

“Our team is dedicated to serving the community, and we are doing everything we can to ensure that patients receive the care they need,” she stated.

Patients at the clinic have voiced their appreciation for the ongoing service. “I came here because the lab at my usual hospital is closed due to the strike. I’m thankful that the Nima Polyclinic is still open and able to help,” said Amina, an Accra resident.

The nationwide strike is part of a protest by medical laboratory scientists demanding better working conditions and pay. Negotiations with the government are ongoing, but no resolution has been reached yet.

In the meantime, the Nima Polyclinic serves as a beacon of hope, delivering essential medical services and ensuring that patients receive the care they need.

The situation remains potent as negotiations continue, with many hopeful that a resolution will be reached soon, allowing all healthcare facilities to resume normal operations.
