Danealia Brantner was a United Airlines flight attendant, who Norman Mineta married in 1991.

She was his backbone after his messy split with his first wife, May Hinoki.
Mineta’s first marriage was to May Hinoki, which lasted from 1961 to 1986.
Mineta had two children from his first marriage and two stepchildren from his second marriage. He also had eleven grandchildren.
Born on Nov. 12, 1931, Mineta was 10 and wearing his Cub Scouts uniform when he and his parents were sent to the Heart Mountain internment camp in Wyoming after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor.

He went on to graduate from the University of California, Berkeley, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and serve as an Army intelligence officer in Korea and Japan.
After three years with the military, he returned to San Jose to run his father’s Mineta Insurance Agency.
Mineta died on May 3, 2022, from a heart ailment in Edgewater, Maryland, at the age of 90.
