Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Mr. Kwabena Boateng, the newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The ceremony took place on Friday, May 17 2024 amidst applause from fellow members of the House.
Mr. Boateng secured victory in the parliamentary by-election held on April 30, 2024. This election followed the passing of the former NPP MP for Ejisu and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, on March 7, 2024.
During the emergency sitting of the House, Speaker Bagbin administered the oaths of office and allegiance to Mr. Boateng. He warmly welcomed him to the House, emphasizing the importance of holding parliamentary tools with diligence and mastering the Constitution of Ghana and the Standing Orders of the House.

Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Minority Leader representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Minority, extended congratulations to Mr. Boateng and expressed well wishes.
However, he raised concern about the lack of representation for the people of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lipke, and Lolobi (SALL) Constituency for almost four years, urging the House to address the matter promptly.
On behalf of the NPP Parliamentary Majority, Mr. Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business in Parliament, congratulated Mr. Boateng on his victory.
He praised Boateng’s dedication to public service and commitment to his constituents, emphasizing the importance of adhering to constitutional principles and parliamentary procedures for effective representation.
Responding to concerns about the SALL Constituency’s lack of representation, Mr. Afenyo-Markin highlighted that it was a matter under the purview of the Electoral Commission (EC) to create a constituency for adequate representation.
