In 1986, Ewing received his first trainer endorsement from Adidas. In 1991, Next Sports signed a licencing agreement with Ewing to release footwear in the United States under a new company, Ewing Athletics, which would operate until 1996.

David Goldberg and his company GPF Footwear LLC successfully teamed up with Ewing in 2012 to resurrect and reintroduce the old Ewing Athletics line, capitalising on the current retro trend in the footwear market.

Patrick Ewing was named head coach of his alma mater, Georgetown University, in 2017. He took over for John Thompson III, whose father, John Thompson II, coached Patrick while he was a student at the university. Patrick earns $4 million per year as coach of the Georgetown Hoyas.
