Patricia Louise Holte best known as Patti LaBelle is an American singer and actress. LaBelle is referred to as the “Godmother of Soul”. She began her career in the early 1960s as lead singer and frontwoman of the vocal group Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles.

Henry Holte and Bertha Holte gave birth to Patti LaBelle. Vivian, Jacqueline, Barbara Holte, and Claudette Grant are her four sisters. From 1969 through 2003, she was married to Armstead Edwards, a teacher.
