Police Stop Attempted Robbery at Delta University

Alleged armed robbers raided Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State in the early hours of Thursday, June 20, 2024.

According to reports, the robbers entered the school premises through an unfenced rear area in an attempt to rob students.

Some students of the private university established by the Urhobo Advancement Foundation (UAF) sounded the alarm about the intrusion, with several fleeing into the bush for safety.

The police, alerted to the incident by the fleeing students, responded promptly and chased the criminal gang away from the university.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, who verified the incident, stated that the suspected robbers entered through a broken fence at the rear of the school. However, he added that the police responded promptly, causing the robbers to flee the scene.

“First of all, the school is not under siege and no student in the bush. Some miscreants came into the school last night through the back that was not fenced.

“They attempted to rob the students, but the students raised alarm, and we dispatched a patrol team there, but they ran away before they got there,” the PRO said.
