Reed Blankenship Parents: Meet Sandra and Toy Blankenship

Reed Scott Blankenship (born March 2, 1999) is an American football safety for the National Football League’s Philadelphia Eagles (NFL). He attended Middle Tennessee University and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Eagles in 2022.

Blankenship appeared in seven games as a junior in 2019 before suffering a season-ending leg injury. Before his injury, he had 58 tackles (fourth on the team), two interceptions, three passes defended, and a forced fumble. He also blocked two kicks, ranking first in the country. Despite missing half of the season, Blankenship was named second-team all-conference.

Blankenship appeared in and started all nine games in 2020, compiling a team-high 76 tackles. He was on the watchlists for the Bednarik Award and the Jim Thorpe Award. He was projected as a mid-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but he chose to return to Middle Tennessee for one more season.

Blankenship was born and raised in Athens, Alabama, by Sandra and Toy Blankenship. Reed and Aralie Ann Blankenship are the couple’s two children.
