He began his journey to overseeing media giants when he worked with ABC as far back as 1974.
Iger rose through the ranks and became ABC Television’s president and chief operating officer in the early 90s.
In 1999, he became president of Disney and in 2000, he was named President and Chief Operating Officer of the company.
He led the company in various capacities until 2020 when he retired, even though he remained Executive Chairman.
On November 20, 2022, Iger made a comeback to The Walt Disney Company, following the resignation of Bob Chapek.
Iger is agreeing to hold the position for two years, pending when a new CEO will be elected.
Iger has made tremendous impact at Walt Disney in the last couple of decades. From growing its shares and presence in international markets, expanding the company in different countries, to recording a profit increase from $48 billion to $257 billion.
He had helped acquire Pixar in 2006 for $7.4 billion, Marvel Entertainment in 2009 for $4 billion, Lucasfilm in 2012 for $4.06 billion, and the entertainment assets of 21st Century Fox in 2019 for $71.3 billion.
