Roffredo Gaetani was a former professional boxer and businessman.
He was born on March 4, 1953, in Rome, Italy to Loffredo Gaetani dell’Aquila d’Aragona Lovatelli and Donna Lorian Gaetani dell’Aquila d’ Aragona Lovatelli.
His mother’s family, the Franchetti, were Venetians and Roffredo’s great-uncle, Baron Raimondo Nanuk Franchetti was Ernest Hemingway’s shooting companion on the estate of San Gaetano near Venice and inspired the character of Baron Alvaro in his classic Beyond the River and Among the Trees.

Gaetani grew up in the storied Palazzo Lovatelli and moved to the United States in the ’80s.
After he arrived in New York in the early 1980s with only $200 in his pocket, he worked his way up from the docks, till he, with the help of Gianni Agnelli, ultimately ran two Ferrari dealerships.
He then served as an ambassador for the iconic Italian car-maker across the United States.
Count Gaetani died in a car accident on December 23, 2005, in Tuscany near his family home in Argiano.
Roffredo Gaetani was survived by two brothers, Luca Gaetani and Gioietta Gaetani.
