Rosemary Chukwuma Advances to Women’s 100m Semi-finals at Paris 2024 Olympics

Rosemary Chukwuma has secured her spot in the semi-finals of the Women’s 100m at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

She finished third in her preliminary heat with a time of 11.26 seconds. Polish sprinter Ewa Swoboda won the race with a season-best time of 10.99 seconds, while Dina Asher-Smith of the United States took second place at 11.01 seconds.

Chukwuma is one of three African women to advance to the semi-finals, joining Marie-Josée Ta Lou from Ivory Coast and Gina Bass from Gambia.

Ta Lou finished with a time of 10.87 seconds, and Bass clocked 11.01 seconds. The semi-finals for the Women’s 100m are set for 6:30 PM on Saturday.

Chukwuma has a notable track record, having won triple gold at the Junior African Championships in Abidjan in 2019.

She achieved gold in the 100m and 200m with times of 11.62 and 23.81 seconds, respectively, and helped the Nigerian 4 × 100m relay team secure gold with a time of 45.56 seconds.

Earlier this year, she competed in the 4 × 100m relay at the IAAF World Relays in Yokohama and ran 45.07 seconds in the first round.

She also participated in the African Games in Rabat, where she reached the 200m final and won gold in the relay with a time of 44.16 seconds.
