Sam Dekker Parents: Meet Todd Dekker and Carol Dekker

Basketball player Sam Dekker was born in the United States on May 6, 1994. Sam Dekker started playing basketball at an early age, carrying on the basketball playing traditions of his father and older sister.He was a standout athlete at Sheboygan Lutheran High School, where he finished his high school career by helping his squad win the state championship.

When the Houston Rockets selected Sam Dekker in the first round of the NBA draft in 2015, his professional basketball career officially got underway. Before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2017, he spent two seasons playing for the Rockets.He was traded from the Clippers to the Cavaliers in 2018, where he played for one season before being dealt to the Washington Wizards in 2019.

Todd Dekker and Carol Dekker, Sam’s parents, gave birth to him in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. During the course of his NBA career, he never ventured outside of his hometown. John, Dekker’s brother, and Hannah, his sister, were his siblings when he was a child.

Above all, Sam’s high school’s head coach was Todd Dekker. Sam was trained by Todd for four years, and he noted that not many fathers get the chance. I’m honored to have served as his mentor for so many years.
