Shane van Gisbergen began his racing career in karting and moved up through the ranks of single-seater racing. He made his debut in the V8 Supercars Championship in 2007, driving for Team Kiwi Racing.
He secured his first race win in 2011 at the ITM 400 Auckland, driving for Stone Brothers Racing. Over the years, he has driven for various teams, including Tekno Autosports, Red Bull Racing Australia, and Triple Eight Race Engineering.

Van Gisbergen achieved considerable success in the V8 Supercars Championship. In 2016, he clinched the championship title, becoming the first New Zealander to win the series since Jim Richards in 1991.
Van Gisbergen is the fourth most successful racing driver in Supercars Championship history, with three titles (2016, 2021, and 2022), 80 victories, and 46 pole positions. He won the Bathurst 1000 in 2020 and 2022, both times with Garth Tander.
