Born on October 24, 1989, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Grimes attended Forest Hill Collegiate Institute.

Grimes began her career in 2004, with a recurring role as lead character Darcy Edwards on the teen drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation.

The show lasted for four seasons, after which Grimes was cast as Annie Wilson in 90210.

She also appeared in TV shows like Picture This with Ashley Tisdale and True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet.

Subsequently, she was featured in a music video for the single “All You Did Was Save My Life” by rock band Our Lady Peace’s, and has directed many music videos including Megan and Liz’s song “Are You Happy Now?”.
