Ruben Palacios of Colombia was due to defend his Featherweight title against John Davison of England at Washington, England on April 17, 1993.
However, soon before the fight, the champion failed an HIV test administered by the BBBC, prompting the WBO to strip him of his championship.
The promoters had only two days to find a replacement to fight Davison. Steve Robinson bravely stepped in and grabbed the opportunity to compete for the WBO championship.
