Born to Tim Oshie and Tina Oshie, his upbringing and family dynamics have played a significant role in shaping the person and player he is today.

Oshie’s journey began in Mount Vernon, Washington, where he entered the world under the watchful eyes of his parents, Tim and Tina. Raised in Everett, just north of Seattle, his early introduction to the world of hockey occurred at the tender age of five through the Seattle Junior Hockey Association.

Following the amicable divorce of his parents, Oshie split his time between his mother, Tina, and his father, Tim. He spent his freshman year at Stanwood High School while living with his mother in Stanwood, showcasing the adaptability that would later become a hallmark of his career.

In 2002, Oshie made a pivotal move to Warroad, Minnesota, his parents’ hometown. Here, he lived with his father, Tim, and his father’s cousin. This shift not only brought him closer to his family’s origins but also immersed him in the hockey culture of Minnesota, a state renowned for its love of the sport.

Family bonds are integral to Oshie, evident in his close relationship with his siblings. He has a brother, Taylor, and two sisters, Tawni and Aleah Oshie. The familial connection extends beyond his immediate family, with first cousin Gary Sargent and second cousin Henry Boucha having made their mark in the NHL.

However, Oshie’s family journey has been marked by both triumphs and challenges. His father, Tim, battled Alzheimer’s disease, a poignant and challenging chapter in their lives. Tim’s struggle with the disease came to an end on May 4, 2021, when he passed away at the age of 56. The loss undoubtedly left a void, but Oshie continues to carry the memories and values instilled by his father.
