Despite not featuring for Les Bleus since July 17, 2021, winger Teddy Thomas has closely followed the French team’s journey, particularly in the 2024 Guinness Men’s Six Nations tournament. Expressing his delight in their recent 45-24 triumph over Wales on Saturday, March 9, in Cardiff, Thomas remains upbeat about France’s progress.

In the 7th episode of the BastaShow with Mathieu Bastareaud, exclusively available on the RugbyPassFR YouTube channel, Thomas shared his sentiments on the team’s performance. “I’m very happy for them because a lot of criticism was levelled at them after the draw with Italy,” he remarked. “They did it at the Millennium Stadium in the best possible way. Scoring 40 points there is something to remember in our careers.”
Thomas highlighted the emergence of new talent, particularly singling out prop George-Henri Colombe as a standout player. With Colombe already being touted as the successor to Uini Atonio, Thomas believes in the potential of the young prop, emphasizing the quality of players in the Top 14.

Another player who caught Thomas’ attention is scrum-half Nolann Le Garrec, whom he fondly refers to as “Little Nono.” Thomas praised Le Garrec’s technical prowess and leadership qualities, foreseeing a bright future for him.
Reflecting on his own prospects for an international return, Thomas remains optimistic but realistic. “It’s still a goal for me, because it’s not pointless for me to say that I’d retire from international rugby,” he explained. “As long as I’m active and can perform, if I’m called up, I’ll be there, because it’s always a pleasure to wear the blue jersey.”
However, Thomas acknowledges the competition within the squad and recognizes that younger players are vying for positions. “There are guys who perform better than you, who are younger and fresher,” he admitted. “I’m thinking about it because if there’s a need I’ll be there, but I’m not making it my priority like I did before.”
As France gears up for their final Six Nations match against England, Thomas remains hopeful for a successful finish, emphasizing the significance of the historic rivalry between the two nations on the rugby pitch.
