In the center of British jump racing, in the small village of Naunton, Gloucestershire, Scudamore spent his formative years.

Since the age of two, he has been riding. Scudamore attended Cheltenham College Junior School first before transferring to Cheltenham College.
Although Tom started riding as a jockey while still a student at Cheltenham College, he always had a back-up plan for his studies.
He managed to earn two A-levels despite juggling a demanding training schedule.

He is the eight-time champion jockey Peter Scudamore’s son; Michael Scudamore, his grandpa, won the Grand National in 1959 with Oxo.

His father Peter is a Former jockey and trainer in National Hunt racing. With 1,678 winning mounts under his saddle during his career, he was an eight-time Champion Jockey (including one title shared with John Francome). He was awarded an MBE for his contributions to the horse racing industry.
Not much is known about her mother, Marilyn Scudamore.
