Meet Ed Stoppard

Ed Stoppard was born on 16 September 1974 in London, England, the son of Tom Stoppard and his second wife Miriam Stoppard. Both of his parents are Jewish, but he was raised in a secular household.

He is married to Amie Stoppard, a niece of Terence Stamp, whom he met working behind the scenes on the film Rogue Trader. They have three daughters: Esmé, Maggie, and Evie.

Ed Stoppard’s film credits include Henryk Szpilman, one of the main characters in The Pianist. He also played Thomas in Joy Division and Lieutenant Addis in Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang Theory.

In June 2009, he appeared in a revival of Arcadia, written by his father, at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London, alongside Samantha Bond and Neil Pearson. Stoppard also appeared in Leopoldstadt, his father’s new play, in 2020.
