In March 2019, a group of Ukrainian lawmakers attempted to prevent Cutugno from performing in Kyiv by writing an open letter to the head of the country’s security services, Vasyl Hrytsak, requesting that the singer be barred from entering Ukrainian territory, branding him a “Russian war supporter in Ukraine.”
