Her career as an actress began on Broadway in 1996 when she appeared in the original production of “Taking Sides.” Following that, she moved to television, making her debut in the Fox series “Roar” in 1997, and then to the big screen with her first feature picture, “Return to Paradise,” in 1998.

Farmiga, on the other hand, rose to prominence in 2004 with her outstanding portrayal as a drug addict in the drama “Down to the Bone.”

This breakthrough role paved the way for her subsequent work in films such as “Nothing But the Truth” (2008) and the comedy-drama “Up in the Air” (2009), which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

In addition to her acting abilities, Farmiga decided to make her directorial debut in 2011 with the well-received drama film “Higher Ground,” in which she also starred.
