Lester Piggott was married to Susan Armstrong. They married at St. Mark church, North Audley Stree in London in 1960. Her father, Sam Armstrong and her brother, Robert, were both racehorse trainers.

They have two daughters, Maureen, an ex-eventer and Tracy a presenter on the Irish Television station, RTE. He also has a son, Jamie from a relationship with Anna Ludlow. His Horse is named after a famous racehorse from history, Florizel.

Lester Piggott left his wife for a mistress more than 20 years his junior. His 72-year-old wife, Susan who has been married to Piggott for 52 years commented on this and said, “I have known Barbara for years and she is a very nice person… all I wish for is Lester’s health and happiness. There are no hard feelings”.
