R&B artiste, Summer Walker was an exotic dancer from 2016 to 2018 in Atlanta before becoming an artiste. She had a cleaning business as well before her fame.

She taught herself how to play the guitar by watching tutorials on YouTube. She started performing covers and posting various videos of herself on the platform.

Born on April 11, 1996, Summer Walker was discovered by a woman who has the same name as her and works as the studio manager of an Atlanta-based label, Love Renaissance.

In 2017, she signed with Love Renaissance and Interscope Records, releasing her first commercial mixtape, Last Day of Summer on October 19, 2018. The mixtape had a hit single titled Girls Need Love. The compilation contained her thoughts on love, doubts, and womanhood.

Summer went on tour with famous singer, 6lack on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour. She ended up as the Up Next artist on Apple Music in 2019. She released her debut EP dubbed Clear on February 27, 2019, with a remix of Girls Need Love on it.
