Erik Spoelstra is an American professional basketball coach for the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Spoelstra played his collegiate basketball for Portland Pilots.
After graduating with a degree in communications, he spends two seasons (1993–1995) in Basketball Bundesliga’s second division as a player–assistant coach for TuS Herten.
He was then offered a job at Miami Heat as an intern video coordinator and was promoted to assistant coach/video coordinator two years later.
In 2008, Spoelstra became the head coach of the Miami Heat at the age of 37.
