He has served as coach of the French national team since 2012.
Born on October 15, 1968, Deschamps played on the defensive side for Marseille, Juventus, Chelsea, Valencia, Nantes and Bordeaux.

When he played for the French national team, he won 103 caps, three UEFA European Football Championships and one FIFA World Cup, and served as captain on few occasions.

As a coach, Deschamps has coached Monaco, Juventus, Marseille, and now, France.
When he managed Monaco, he led his team to win the Coupe de la Ligue in 2003, and qualified for the 2004 UEFA Champions League Final, the same year he was named Ligue 1 Manager of the Year.
His time with Juventus and Marseille, saw him lead his team to winning major league titles and championships as well.
Deschamps remains one of the few who has won the FIFA World Cup both as a captain and as a coach.
