Justine Bateman is best known for her role as an academic underachiever and dedicated shopper Mallory Keaton on NBC 1982 to 89 sitcom “Family Ties”.

The American writer, director, producer, and former actress was born in Rye, New York.

After completing high school, Justine couldn’t be enrolled in college at the time due to her contractual obligations with Family Ties.

Her feature film directorial debut, Violet, starring Olivia Munn, Luke Bracey, and Justin Theroux, premiered at the 2021 SXSW Film Festival.

Justine also wrote, directed, and produced the film short Five Minutes, which premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.

In 2016, Justine received a degree in computer science and digital media management from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Aside from acting, writing, directing, and producing, Justine is a licensed pilot of single-engine planes and a certified scuba diver.

She is married to Mark Fluent since 2001, and together the couple has two children: Gianetta Fluent and Duke Kenneth Fluent.
