English actor Matthew Macfadyen was born on October 17, 1974, in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England.

Due to the nature of his father’s job, Macfadyen was raised in different cities, including Jakarta, Indonesia.

He attended schools in Scotland, Indonesia, England, and Rutland’s Oakham School before being admitted to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Matthew Macfadyen Career

Macfadyen is well-known for playing Mr. Darcy in Joe Wright’s 2005 comedy Pride & Prejudice and Daniel in Frank Oz’s Death at a Funeral.

He also played Detective Inspector Edmund Reid in the BBC series Ripper Street and John Birt in the political drama Frost/Nixon.

The HBO drama series Succession has featured Macfadyen as Tom Wambsgans since 2018.

Other movies where he appeared include Enigma (2001), In My Father’s Den, and the HBO drama series Succession. He also played Major Charles Ingram in the three-part ITV drama Quiz in 2020.

Macfadyen is a recipient of several awards and nominations, including one Primetime Emmy Award, two British Academy Television Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Critics Choice Television nomination.
