He is widely recognised as one of the greatest defenders of all time, having formerly played for Real Madrid for sixteen seasons, winning four UEFA Champions League titles as well as two UEFA European Championships and the 2010 FIFA World Cup with the national team.

After sailing through Sevilla’s youth academy and spending two seasons with the senior side, Ramos joined Real Madrid in 2005 on a €27 million deal. He went on to make 671 appearances for La Liga club, winning five league titles, two Copa del Reys, four Champions Leagues and four Club World Cups.

Following a sixteen-year stint with Real Madrid, Ramos joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in 2021.
Internationally, Ramos represented Spain at four World Cups and three European Championships. He made a record 180 appearances for his country and won the World Cup in 2010 and European Championship in both 2008 and 2012.
Sergio Ramos announced his retirement from international football on February 23, 2023, at the age of 36, having not appeared for the Spain national team in nearly two years, after new coach Luis de la Fuente told him he would no longer be selected.
