Swarovski crystals are a man-made form of glass created with a patented process. Swarovski is based in Wattens, Austria, and has existed as a family-owned business since 1895.

In partnership with electronics giant Philips, Swarovski produced the “Active-Crystals” consumer electronics range in 2007. Swarovski also collaborated with the London Design Museum in 2012.

The West End musical production of Aladdin used over 2 million Swarovski crystals. Michael Jackson’s $192,000 crystal glove was also made of Swarovski crystal.

The Swarovski company is known for its high-quality crystal products, which are usually used in fashion, jewellery, glass sculptures, miniature, rhinestones, home decor and chandeliers.

American singer Madonna wore a Swarovski crystal dress on her Rebel Heart Tour and pop singer Rihanna also wore an entire Swarovski crystal dress in her appearance at the American Grammys.
