The issue has gone back and forth in Texas over whether to change daylight saving time, but so far no action has been taken in the state.

In 2020, Utah passed a bill to end the practice of DST.

Other states enacting legislation include Idaho, Louisiana, Ohio (resolution), South Carolina, and Wyoming.

Federal law does not currently allow for full-time DST, but the Sunshine Protection Act of 2021 seeks to change that in Congress.

In March 2021, a group of bipartisan senators reintroduced the Sunshine Protection Act, legislation that would make DST permanent across the country.

The U.S. Department of Transportation says daylight saving time conserves energy.

What Three US States Do Not Observe Daylight Saving Time?
Hawaii and Arizona are the only two states in the U.S. that do not observe daylight savings time.

However, several overseas territories do not observe daylight savings time. Those territories include American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
