What’s happened to Louis Smith?

The British artistic gymnast Louis Smith was born on April 22, 1989. At the Olympics in 2008 in Beijing, 2012 in London, and 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, he won a bronze medal, two silver medals, and two gold medals on the pommel horse, the former of which was the first Olympic podium finish for a British gymnast since 1928.

In 2012, he tied Kristian Berki for second place but lost out on gold due to a lower execution score (E). In the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro the following year, he won a second consecutive silver medal on the pommel horse, this time placing second to teammate and 2012 bronze medalist Max Whitlock. In the men’s artistic team all-around competition at the 2012 London Olympics, Smith also competed for Great Britain, which won bronze.

Louis has started a career in show business after bidding the sport farewell. He has performed in several theatre productions and made appearances on a number of TV programs, including The Jump, The Masked Dancer, and Strictly Come Dancing. 33-year-old two-time silver medalist Louis Smith MBE has had a varied career since quitting gymnastics during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
