George Wilson “Doddie” Weir was born on July 4, 1970, in Edinburgh, United Kingdom to parents Jock Weir and Nanny Weir.

Doddie Weir was educated at Daniel Stewart’s and Melville College. He studied at the Scottish Agricultural College from 1988 to 1991 and gained a Higher National Diploma.

Doddie Weir has made 61 international appearances for the Scotland national team. He is now the commercial director for Hutchinson Environmental Solutions, a waste management company started by his father-in-law.

Doddie Weir is presently living alongside his family on a farm which he bought in the Scottish Borders.
