Brewer was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and raised there. She attended Chaparral High School in Phoenix, where she was a 12-time prep All-American and the Arizona 4A state champion in the 100m backstroke in 2009. She helped Chaparral win two state championships and was named her school’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2010.

Brewer swam for the University of Texas for two years before transferring to the University of Southern California, where she graduated in 2014. She competed in the 2012 US Olympic trials for the 100m backstroke while in Texas. She finished tied for 83rd place.

Brewer went on to work as a college football sideline reporter for Cox 7 Arizona after graduating from USC. She later worked as a weekend sports anchor for KGUN-TV in Tucson, Arizona. She was the weekend sports anchor and reporter at KABC-TV in Los Angeles, where she began as an intern in college. ESPN hired her in 2020. She made her SportsCenter debut on September 28, 2020.

She has also worked on pre-and post-game shows, as well as co-hosted ESPN Radio shows. Prior to joining ESPN, she was a member of the ABC broadcast team for The Bachelor Winter Games. Her responsibilities included covering MMA and serving as a presenter for the 2022 NHL Awards.
