Irving, a native of New York City, attended Stevenson High School in The Bronx, where he played basketball, before going on to play for Boston College in college.
Irving supported the Terriers’ journey to the North Atlantic Conference Championship game each of his four years.
In 1988, the team won the NAC title, the school received its third NCAA Tournament invitation, and Irving surpassed John Wooden as the school’s all-time top scorer with 1,931 points.
