His grandfather Julio Pacheco was from Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, and Pacheco was born there in Bridgeton, New Jersey. He began playing football at a very young age in Cumberland County, New Jersey, for the Vineland Blitz (Pop Warner Football League).

Pacheco went to Vineland High School, where he was a running back and quarterback. He contributed to the Fighting Clan’s victory against the rival Millville Senior High School Thunderbolts in the Thanksgiving Day Classic during his senior year. Ancestry from Dominica.

Syracuse, Maryland, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, and other football programs on the East Coast actively recruited Pacheco. On June 21, 2017, he made a commitment to Rutgers University.

Pacheco played regularly throughout all four of his seasons at the collegiate level. He ran for 2,442 yards (4.3 ypc) on 563 attempts with 18 rushing touchdowns during his time in college. Additionally, he hauled in 47 receptions for 249 yards and a score.

Pacheco’s first NFL running touchdown came in week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals during his league debut. It was a 3-yard run. In the Chiefs’ Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers, he made his first career start. Pacheco ran for a career-high 107 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11.

He concluded the regular season with 960 scrimmage yards (960 rushing yards plus 130 receiving yards), 5 rushing touchdowns, and 830 rushing yards. He also gained 597 yards on 29 kickoff returns.
