Susan Harris co-founded the production company Witt/Thomas/Harris Productions with Paul Junger Witt and Tony Thomas. She married television producer Paul Junger Witt in 1983, and together they co-produced all the shows she created until his passing in 2018.

Harris was previously married to actor Berkeley Harris from 1965 to 1969, and they share a son, Sam Harris, an accomplished author and neuroscientist.
