Charles Edward Daniels, the son of a lumberjack, began playing fiddle and guitar in high school.

He was soon playing in rock and roll bands. Elvis Presley had recorded “It Hurts Me,” a song co-written by Daniels and record producer Bob Johnston, by the time Daniels was eighteen.
Daniels relocated to Nashville in 1967 at the request of Johnston to work as a session musician.
Daniels rapidly found work, playing on records by Leonard Cohen, Flatt & Scruggs, Claude King, Al Kooper, Marty Robbins, Pete Seeger, Ringo Starr, and, most notably, Bob Dylan.
Daniels can be heard on Dylan’s Self Portrait and New Morning albums, as well as Nashville Skyline.

Daniels was accompanied by police to the funeral service at World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro.
A performance and the Pledge of Allegiance were conducted before Charlie’s funeral.
Where did they bury Charlie Daniels?
Daniels is buried at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens located near his former home. He died on July 6, 2020, at the age of 83.
