The singer has been rumored to be dead on social media for some time but, on Sunday (February 27) the singer’s reps officially confirmed that Roland Orzabal is not dead.
“He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet,” they said.
Some fans have expressed anger at the fake report saying it was reckless, distressing, and hurtful to fans of the much-loved singer. Others say this shows his extreme popularity across the globe.

Tears for Fears are an English pop-rock band formed in Bath, England, in 1981 by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. Founded after the dissolution of their first band, the mod-influenced Graduate, Tears for Fears were associated with the new wave synthesizer bands of the early 1980s and attained international chart success. Tears for Fears were part of the MTV-driven Second British Invasion of the US.
The band’s debut album, The Hurting (1983), reached number one on the UK Albums Chart. Their second album, ‘Songs From the Big Chair’, (1985), reached number one on the US Billboard 200, achieving multi-platinum status in both the UK and the US.
