Background and Early Life
Rudakubana grew up in Cardiff with his older brother. Former neighbors described his family as friendly and involved in their community.
Helen, a former neighbor, recounted, “They were a lovely young couple. They had two little boys who were boisterous.”
Another neighbor noted that the family was well-regarded and that there had been no issues during their time in Cardiff.
As a child, Rudakubana accompanied his father to karate classes, according to sensei Chico Mbakwe.
Mbakwe recalled, “He would come and do grading and his father would take him home. I can’t really remember the boy but can vaguely remember the dad.”
