She was married to wrestling figure Kevin Sullivan from 1985 to 1997, and their divorce was highly publicized, often featured in wrestling storylines.
The couple did not have any children together during their marriage.
After her divorce from Sullivan, Nancy began a relationship with wrestler Chris Benoit, whom she later married.
Nancy worked in several wrestling promotions, including Florida Championship Wrestling, Extreme Championship Wrestling, and World Championship Wrestling, where she was known by her ring name, Woman.
Tragically, in 2007, Nancy and her son Daniel became victims of a murder-suicide committed by Chris Benoit.

Authorities, including Lieutenant Tommy Pope, confirmed that the incident was being investigated as a double murder-suicide. Police did not look for suspects outside the home, as the means of death were found at the scene.
Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard revealed that Chris Benoit killed Nancy and Daniel before taking his own life. Nancy’s death was due to asphyxiation, with bruising on her back and stomach.
Daniel also died from asphyxiation, with no visible signs of restraint but internal injuries suggesting strangulation. The tragic events unfolded over three days: Nancy was killed on Friday, Daniel on Saturday, and Chris on Sunday.
A memorial service for Nancy and Daniel was held in Daytona Beach on July 14, 2007. They were cremated, and their ashes were placed in starfish-shaped urns for their family.
